47/365: A Promise

Carving your promises to be forever etched on the grain of this tree...

I noticed this tree also had an odd texture... Actually it had no texture! All the bark had shriveled and shed off. The tree looked like it was on its way to the grave and yet... it had leaves on the top still! It was very particular, I don't know if this is a special kind of tree or the damage to the bark was caused by all the carvings of lovers marking their promises to each other. Either way, I was very intrigued to photograph it =)

  1. nice lighting! was it sunset, or was there some sort of lamp, or was it just your camera?

  2. Thanks! no lamp, all natural sunlight. It wasn't quite sunset yet, but the texture of the tree does look orangy/brown like that, and the f2.8 limit of the lens added to the distortion/colors
