I think many of you know, but this is the Blue Walk stations around UBC campus where anyone can press the button and request for help in the event of a night stalker/attacker.
I suppose UBC is a very safe place as this has obviously not been used for a long time... and the only one requiring help seems to be this resident spider?

57/365: Moon Rise
The fire pit is an area filled with little gas powered camp fires with couches around them. The entire platform overlooks the city of Tucson and at night, we get the gorgeous blue/purples of twilight from the setting sun and reflection of yellow off the desert. This night, the view was additionally graced by the rising of the moon and strange yellow reflection off it's face.
I wish I could have just sat there forever staring at the rising moon.

55/365: Bedrock Cut
At the snazzy restaurant called Pastiche in Tucson, Arizona... there exists a meal only fit for men. It is advertised to be a meal for two but really, if you convert back to your primal instincts you will find that this massive rib can only be claimed by one superior being...

52/365: Ferry Ride Home
Just a beautiful sunset falling behind the ferry.
Had the most relaxing ferry ride home: problems aside during work, I was able to leave the pharmacy with everything cleaned up, did not have to rush on to the ferry, found a comfortable spot to watch some TV shows and eat an early dinner then wandered the sundecks with the bright warm weather!
You can tell I love the vignette with f/2.8 on this lens =)

51/365: What to bring...
Woot! Taking ferry back to Vancouver tomorrow after work. So excited to be home again! I'm going back because there's a conference so I'll only be at home for a few days even though I'm gone from the store for 1.5 weeks! Slight problem though... 1 of my coworker's wife is expecting anytime now. Crossing fingers I get to leave before she goes in to labor so I don't have to worry about the mess! Mwahahahha
So here's the usual stuff I pack when I head home for the weekend.
I've got:
- K4L bag for my laptop, externals and camera gear
- 8-Million-Dollar-Home for general walking around. VERY roomy and I can fit just about anything in there while being so comfy. Best thing is it will fit 70-200mm lens that I'll eventually get...
- laundry basket full of dirty clothes usually. This time since I'm only home for a day then flying out, it's filled with clean clothes! My mom will be happy, hahaha
- Styrofoam box full of empty Tupperware to be refilled with food by my mom XD
- Wii (only if I think I'll have time to play it at home)

47/365: A Promise
Carving your promises to be forever etched on the grain of this tree...
I noticed this tree also had an odd texture... Actually it had no texture! All the bark had shriveled and shed off. The tree looked like it was on its way to the grave and yet... it had leaves on the top still! It was very particular, I don't know if this is a special kind of tree or the damage to the bark was caused by all the carvings of lovers marking their promises to each other. Either way, I was very intrigued to photograph it =)

46/365: Depressed
A slight set back... I suppose it should be expected. But wish I had done a better job and kicking myself for it now. But it shows certain aspects of work are starting to wear me down... I wonder how much more comfort I can find in the Wii alone.
Then again, maybe a more violent game than Super Paper Mario will help?

45/365: Spring is Coming
Well obviously, considering its March and we already had our daylight savings! But today I actually had time to walk around DT Nanaimo and take a few pictures. The lighting was pretty dim as the sun was setting behind some hills so this picture doesn't look quite as cherry and bright as it could have! Nonetheless, it's refreshing to see some flowers sprout out and color the city again!

43/365: Electronic Curse
This is the KeyFob. It allows me to access my work terminal server from practically anywhere. I can now complete schedules and work on projects in the quiet of my own house. I no longer have to ditch my staff just to complete paperwork and correspondence.
I've been cursed...

40/365: Paralympic Flame
I had the good fortune to attend the Paralympic Opening Ceremonies! It was exciting to feel the positive vibe and deafening roar again. I really miss the Olympics and quite saddened to see the HUGE difference between Olympics and Paralympic support. Tickets cost so much less and the stands are still mostly empty. CTV has horrible coverage of the games now as well so its even harder to follow. If anything these games are even more challenging and be greater celebrated for the monumental hardships the athletes have overcome...

This was actually a photo of my dinner tonight, 豉油王炒麵 plus some vegetables to make it more balanced. But partway while I was editing it in PS, I slipped on a shortcut and inverted the colors! I thought this was kinda neat so I kept the photo like this... Looks yummmy doesn't?

35/365: Lion's "Great" Bridge
I got off work quite early today hoping the good weather continued to hold. Alas, it was overcast and raining... I still went out for a quick walk a couple hours later once the rain let up though! The wind was piercingly cold, it made me wish I had brought my volunteer jacket with me - that thing is light but effective!
This was taken on Seaside Walkway near downtown Nanaimo. Vancouver has the Lion's Gate Bridge. Nanaimo apparently has a "Lion's Great Bridge". Except... I think it refers to the project of building this walkway and all the bricks along it, not an actual bridge... Anyways, a little night photography trying to capture the twilight mood of the darkened sky and dimly light street lamps.

34/365: Cherry Blossoms in Nanaimo!
Honestly I was not expecting to find any here but today, the weather was sooooo nice I went for a quick walk before my shift started and LO & BEHOLD! A cherry blossom blooming just minutes away from my house! And so, to Joanas, there's your cherry blossom picture. You can stop bugging me now.

33/365: Lazy Noodles
Yep, I cooked tonight. Nothing caught on fire, the place doesn't smell, and I didn't slice off my arm... Its been a few hours now and no diarrhea so I consider it an absolute success! =D
And if you're curious... This is pretty lazy of me because I took soup my mom packaged and froze for me, heated it up, threw some noodles in to it and added a bak choi for nutrients. Just wait until I have to make something from scratch...

32/365: Wii Life Line
I'm back on "Exile Island" and there's not much here when I come home after a LONG day's work... I have but two things to turn to: Internet or the Wii. I have been acquiring a growing collection of games to ease the seclusion but as Belle bluntly pointed, I am starting to eliminate all social contact outside of work. L
