Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar

And I found myself at another Dine Out resturant! After circling Yaletown for 30+ minutes before finally giving in on using pay parking, 5 friends and I sat down for scrumptious dinner!

Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar: $38

Appetizer: Matane Shrimp Salad
Paired with pink grapefruit and avocado, it is the bane of anyone with high cholesterol!

Entree: Artic Char
Char with crispy skin and soft juicy meat. Good thing there's celery to balance to mouth-watering vanilla butter sauce!

Dessert: Hazelnut + Almond Meringue
A hint of coffee mixed with hazelnut, almond and chocolate to perk you up after this luscious meal!

My friend loves his red meat though and took advantage of Blue Water's alternative choices on the menu...

Appetizer: Albacore Tuna Tataki
For the sashimi lovers, this was just delicious!

Entree: Kurobota Pork
BBQ pork shoulder... who could say no?

Dessert: Key Lime Cheesecake
A little on the sour side but otherwise good! And yes...those are roast marshmellows on top!

Bistro Pastis

Participating in Dine Out Vancouver 2009's $28 menu is the French resturant Bistro Pastis.

Appetizer: Warm Mushroom and Fennel Salad, Goat Cheese and Balsamic Vinaigrette
Warm Mushroom + goat cheese = yummy in my tummy!

Entre: Trout Meuniere, Pomme Vapeurs, Haricots Vert, Brown Butter Sauce
Not sure why the trout was pink but the entre was very good too! It was a good portion with beans and mashed potatoes on the side and the trout was plenty juicy still.

Dessert: Apple Tart, Vanilla Ice Cream
They gave me a spoon to eat the apple tart which proved to be difficult... However it tasted appley and the vanilla ice cream was sprinkled with cinnamon powder, Mmmmmmmm~

Overall: Great resturant! Felt a little squished but mind you I went with 9 other friends. The meal was fairly filling and the waiters happily restocked the complimentary bread several times! They added a nice touch by offering to take all of our coats and brought them back when we began to leave.

Landing in YVR

Flew back from Newfoundland today (Jan 18th) and despite the limited visibility, I welcome it much more than the freezing Atlantic winds. Made me think of a blank dream where images can drift in and out....

I had the runs on New Years Eve

We were "accidently" lead to the black diamond trails and the only way out is down!
Exasperation!
